Hedgehog cactus is a low-growing succulent native to the southwestern United States. He earned his name because of his short, spiny stems resemble hedgehogs. It is also called Engelmann’s hedgehog cactus, named for the botanist and physician George Engelmann. Hedgehog cactus is common in its native range and produces colourful flowers in the spring.

Ideal location: all room. Bedrooms, living rooms and studies
Light conditions: position in bright light. Reduce to bright indirect light during the winter months.
Watering: contrary to what new cactus keepers think, cactus require regular watering, at least during the summer. Only water again when the soil has dried out. Over the cooler months they may need only light watering every 3 to 4 weeks.
Neediness: Easy to care for but we advise you wear gloves when handling this plant to avoid skin coming into contact with the hairs of this cactus.
Pets & Children: not toxic but do HANDLE WITH CARE this plant may not be suitable for those with children or pets.
Rate of growth: slow growing.
